Aonach Meadhoin along with its two neighbouring Munros Saileag and Sgurr a Bhealaich Dheirg form what is sometimes known as the North Glen Shiel Ridge or the Brothers Ridge. It runs for 3.5km on the north side of Glen Shiel.
Aonach Meadhoin is the most eastern Munro on the ridge connected to Sgurr a Bhealaich Dheirg via its fine western ridge and to subsidiary peak Sgurr an Fhuarail on its north eastern ridge. The northern slopes back on to Coire nan Eun giving an extremely craggy face. The southern slopes overlook Coire na Cadha and are generally less craggy than those of the north however Sgurr an Fhuarail has several crags on its southern slopes.
Coire na Cadha is a common route of ascent / descent onto the main ridge and is easily accessed form the Cluanie Inn off the A87 where there is parking available.
The North Glen Shiel Ridge is a great walk and should provide a long but rewarding day out for all. Access to two vehicles would really make the day easier otherwise you will have a long walk back up the A87 to retrieve your car.
