Carn Aosda is part of a group of 3 Munros which surround the Glenshee ski development. They are normally access by the large ski centre car park sitting at 2000ft. With this high starting point it makes them arguably the easiest Munros in Scotland. There are other routes that avoid the ski developments as best they can but due to the fact they are also not the most exciting hills in the world this is by far the most common starting point.
Carn Aosda lies to the north of ski slopes and has a rounded summit. There are two ridges running north from the summit both wide and easily accessible. The south face of the Munro is scarred with the Ski slopes and is hardly a pretty site.
The Cairnwell is connected to Carn Aosda by a wide col arcing round the ski slopes.
There is an exceptionally easy path leading all the way to the summit from the ski centre possibly giving Carn Aosda the title of the easiest Munro.
