Chno Dearg is a rounded summit Munro that lacks any distinctive features. It is normally climbed with Stob Coire Sgriodain to the west via a connecting bealach on Chno Dearg's south ridge. The northern slopes gently fall to Glen Spean over easy terrain which has a reputation of being great for ski touring. From the summit there are great views NE to the Creag Meagaidh Massif. For most the walk starts in the north at Fersit off the A86. There are ample car parking spaces here. There is a long walk in however to reach the lower slopes of the Munro. For the fit walkers Beinn Na Lap can be combined further south to extend your day on the hills. This does involve a fairly large descent / re-ascent. |
