Meall Corranaich is normally climbed in conjunction with Meall a’ Choire Leith. These two Munros lie separate to the west of the main Ben Lawers ridge walk which encompasses 5 Munros. They form an easy day out on the hills due to the relatively high start point at Lochan Na Lairige and the grassy terrain that makes up the hills. There is little in the way of crags to contend with.
The route starts from Lochan na Lairige just past the Ben Lawers NTS visitor centre with limited parking spaces. A sharp pull up Meall Corranaich’s south western ridge will take you to the summit.
Meall a Choire Leith is climbed by continuing along Meall Corranaich’s north ridge where the two Munros join up. There are good views to be had throughout of the Ben Lawers ridge walk across the valley to the east.
This area is known to collect a lot of the white stuff in the winter so it may be a good hill to save for winter conditions.
